There are no prerequisites for taking
this course. Many people think they need to be great at math to be a tax
preparer. The math involved is really fairly basic. If you know simple
arithmetic and have a calculator handy you should not have any problems.

This will depend on what course you are taking and how you have
selected to learn. Classroom. If you choose to learn in a classroom environment,
the Comprehensive Individual Federal Income Tax Course is a 60 hour course. It
is usually taught twice a week for 10 weeks, 3 hours each time. All of the other
courses we teach are 30 hours. They are usually taught twice a week for 5 weeks,
3 hours each time. Online or Correspondence. With either of these two options
you are able to set your own pace. This will allow to finish fairly quickly,
sometimes in as little as just a few weeks; or you can take more time to
complete each lesson.

Online. Students receive a username and password after registering
and can begin immediately. With the online courses, the student receives instant
feedback on the correctness of each homework assignment, quiz, or test. Students
must successfully pass each lesson before they can move on to the next one. When
students have a question or comment, they have a direct link to send an email to
their assigned instructor. Instructors will respond within two business days -
maximum. Students do not receive a textbook. Everything the students need to
complete the online course is provided online. A textbook may be purchased for
additional $50. Many students find a textbook helpful to have as a reference in
the future. Correspondence. Students can begin as soon as they receive their
school package, which is shipped by UPS ground. Feedback on the correctness of
homework assignments, quizzes and tests with the correspondence courses take a
little longer, as they have to be hand-graded by the assigned instructor.
Students correspond with their assigned instructor by toll-free phone, fax,
email, and regular mail - if necessary. Questions submitted while taking a
correspondence course typically take the same amount of time as the online
course - two business days maximum. Correspondence students receive a student
manual, Publication 17, and a packet of forms to complete all assignments.

Students are issued a unique user id and password that is required to
enter the secure area of the website where their data is entered and stored.

time spent on each lesson will vary however, your expect to spend at least six
hours per lesson to read the lesson and the reading assignment, to complete
class problems, and to complete homework assignments.
